Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I wear to class?
Comfortable clothes, workout clothes, closed toed shoes.
Note: if you attend one of our scheduled classes in Grand Rapids, no shoes are allowed in the studio so you will need to work out in bare feet
Who will I be in class with?
Our scheduled classes in Grand Rapids are open to the public and whoever registers to come. The group usually consists of teenagers and women but are open to all.
If you schedule a private class, they will only be who you invite
I don't have a place to host a class
It is our hope to be able to provide a place in the future, but I do have access to a places in Hudsonville & Grand Rapids but there is a cost involved. If you have several people to take this class with you that cost can be minimal when split amongst all attending. I am also willing to use the backyard at my home or the driveway (weather permitting) which is located in Walker, MI. Our come to one of our open classes listed on our upcoming classes page
What will I learn?
Our classes have a set content that we go through each time. If you chose to take additional ongoing classes the content will be adapted to your needs, skill level and what you want to focus on.
What if I have been a victim (or been involved in situation) in the past?
Please let me know ahead of time (if comfortable with sharing). I would be happy to adjust the class to the level you are comfortable and you can choose if you are comfortable with a male assistant/attacker or if you would prefer to have only female instructors or only male instructors instead.
How many people can you teach at a time?
That will depend on the space available, but if the space is large enough I have taught classes of up to 60 people. I would recommend smaller class sizes of 30 or less as I have found that larger classes are harder to get all the content into in the time frame. I am always open to discussing what you would like.
