I'm Julie!

My experience includes

Throughout my training I developed a love for teaching women self-defense skills and held many free seminars through the school I train at.  This led to the opportunity to offer paid private & group lessons.  I am very proud of the women I have taught!  My goal was to open up my own self defense school.

That goal was put on hold.  Due to covid the school transitioned from having our own studio to using space in a church basement, but we only have access to use that space during our normal martial arts class times.  I continue to teach and take martial arts training working toward my 5th degree at Standale Karate & Fitness.

After covid I focused on the care of my children and getting them through high-school and some health & mental health battles.  I am a strong advocate of the LGBTQ+ community and I no longer focus my promotions on just  teaching women (even though that is my primary clientele) as I want to be inclusive all all genders and binaries.  You are safe with me!

Now that my children are grown I am refocusing back on getting my own self-defense business up and running.  This is challenging due to not having studio space, but I know there are many people out there that would like to take the classes I can offer and I want to at least be available to teach if someone has space we can use.  

I am the primary instructor of the class along with my husband Josh acting as my attacker while teaching along side me.  I do have the availability to bring a female instructor as well in the event someone would feel safer with an only female dynamic.

In my life out side of martial arts, I am mom to two amazing adult children, I hold a job as office manager at a company I have been with for 23+ years.  I love being Auntie to my nieces & nephews, I enjoy doing projects around my home with my husband, I love shopping at a good wander store, singing, tattoos, Detroit Tigers baseball, and my dog Toby
